Peter got out of the boat and began to walk toward Jesus.

This is from the story, in Matthew, of Jesus walking on the water but it appears in all four Gospels. Bishop Robert Barron tells us that the water is a symbol of danger throughout the Scriptures and God has lordship over all the powers of disorder. The boat holding Peter and the other disciples is the Church. This story of Jesus walking on the water shows the divinity of Jesus. Peter beginning to walk on the water towards Jesus is the story of the saints.
